una familia, dos territorios.
100 años de historia
The Benoît family arrived in La Bastida in 1925 from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and remained
irrevocably captivated by the magic of the place. Her first vines were born from the
old vineyards of the monastery of San Andrés de Muga, acquired by means of a papal bull
papal dispensation granted by Pius XI, beginning an adventure marked by the vocation of
to make wines with soul, sheltered by the Sierra Cantabria mountains.
As time went on, the family's restless spirit led them to Madrid. It was the decade
from the 60s when they settled in Madrid, recovering vineyards of varieties
ancestral whites in forgotten villages, in the constant search for the soul of the vineyard and
from their homeland. In the 1980s, their wanderlust led them to introduce varieties from the south
from France, planting in Madrid massal selections of merlot and syrah that today form
essential part of their blends.
Today, under the guidance of a new generation, the winery moves forward without forgetting its origins:
to make things the old-fashioned way, respecting and listening to the land to honor the soul of its
vineyards.
